HomeThe world of Lassie collectibles is a step back into the past. By collecting the many items that were produced in honor of Lassie, we can connect for a while with a past time. At that time, the world was a different place than it is today.
It was not a high-tech world. We had simple telephones and simple televisions. Movies were not X-rated and full of trash talk and it didn’t matter which movie the kids went to see at the local theater. They were all clean enough that anyone could watch them.
People did not eat out at fast-food restaurants at every meal. Mothers cooked the meals and the family sat around the dining room table and ate their meals together…and talked. Most mothers stayed at home with the kids and did not have to work outside the home. The term “latch-key child” didn’t exist.
Kids used their imaginations and played outside. Rarely do kids go in the woods today and use their imaginations and play “Cowboys and Indians”, “hide-and-seek”, “tag”, and “Red Rover”. Today is the electronic age, and kids today don’t know how to play with anything that is not of the electronic persuasion.
With the Lassie collectibles section, I want to take you back in time when toys were simple and used the imagination - toys that cost little when they were new, but are worth many times over their original cost.
